Women's Soccer - Sat, Oct. 29, 2011
Aquinas takes top seed for the 2011 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Soccer Tournament with a perfect 6-0-0 league record . The Saints have a bye in the first round while the other teams start play on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Quarterfinals - Wednesday, Nov. 2 (all games tenatively scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern).

#1 Aquinas (15-3-0/6-0-0) bye - The Saints plowed through the season by outscoring conference teams 12 goals to 3. Jaime Tomaszewski leads the leauge in scoring with 15 goals on 38 shots on goal and ranks 13th nationally for goals per game at 1.070. The senior has three hat tricks - four goals against Indiana Wesleyan in September; three goals aginst Bethel (Ind.) in September; and three goals on Oct. 8 against Concordia - and was named the NAIA Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 27. The team ranks 20th in the country with seven shutouts, but only two of them were against fellow WHAC members. Aquinas will host the winner of The #4 vs. #5 seed in the Semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 5

#7 Concordia (1-9-2/0-6-0) at #2 Siena Heights (10-7-0/5-1-0) - SHU captured the only meeting between the two teams, 1-0 on Oct. 19. The lone goal came off the foot of Hannah Ulrich at the 66:39 mark. Defense has been the key for SHU as the Saints allowed 14 goals in all games and just one goal during league play (to Aquinas in a 1-0 loss on Oct. 15). Concordia has struggled on offense, scoring just 12 goals. Keeper Ryan Elequin ranks third in the nation for saves per game with 12.33 and is seventh in total saves with 148.

#6 Madonna (6-8-1/1-4-1) at #3 Davenport (10-7-1/3-2-1) - Has the potential to be closer than the seeds indicate. DU dominated the first meeting between these two teams on Oct. 1, winning 4-1. The Panthers took a 1-0 halftime lead and exploded in the second half with three more goals. The two teams are fairly even with DU's Letesha Cannonier and Madonna's Ashley Parent both scoring eight goals. DU is averaging 2.18 goals per game to Madonna's 2.13.  Lizzie Paul recorded a hat trick in a Davenport win at Warren Wilson. Chelsea Gregg of Madonna was named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 27 after making nine saves in MU's 2-1 upset over then-ranked #7 Spring Arbor (Mich.).

#5 Cornerstone (6-7-4/1-3-2) at #4 Indiana Tech (10-7-1/3-3-0) - Tech is coming off a 2-0 win over the Golden Eagles on Oct. 29, which means this could be anybody's game. Tech has 27 goals this season and likes to shoot with 200 shots per game. Cornerstone has 35 goals on 121 shots. Manuela Cabal has eight goals so far for Tech, including a hat trick against Goshen (Ind.). Cornerstone's Jen Kuipers has five goals and an assist.
