Aquinas College used the second day of the two-day event to best Madonna University by one stroke for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Golf Jamboree #3 title. In individual play, Michelle Hall from MU and Kristina Raiz of Aquinas tied for the medalist spot.
Madonna took the early lead with a 358 after the first day of play hosted by Lourdes University at Sylvania Country Club (par 73). Aquinas shot a 366 for a tie with Indiana Tech for second place. The two-Jamboree continued with University of Northwestern Ohio hosting the second round at Hawthorne Hills Golf Club. Day two saw a drop in team scores with Aquinas shaving 29 strokes for a low round of 337 and total score of 703. Madonna carded a 346 to finish second overall with a 704.
Four strokes separated the first six golfers with the top two scores shooting matching rounds. Hall and Raiz both turned in a first-round score of 89 and both shot an 81 on day two to share the individual medalist title with a 170. Abby Hagan of Aquinas was third at 173 and three others tied for fourth with 174.
Madonna leads the race for the regular season conference title by 29 strokes heading into the final Jamboree on Oct. 8. The Crusaders will host the field at Walnut Creek Country Club.
