GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Kent City graduate Kristi Boehm has made her mark on Davenport women's basketball and the junior has led the team to a 21-1 record while also posting impressive individual statistics. Boehm now holds the all-time career marks for both assists and steals as she swiped her way to the top with 7 more steals in Saturday's 120-87 win over Indiana Tech. Boehm, a 5'5 junior who plays the point guard position for the #1 ranked Lady Panthers came into the 2009-10 season ranked 5th on the all-time steals list and 3rd on the assists list. She moved into the top spot in assists during a recent win over Concordia University on January 6 at the Student Center. Her 354th dime broke the previous mark of 353 set by Shannon Rose (Callaghan). After Saturday's game, Kristi has accumulated 372 assists and ranks 32nd in NAIA D2 with 4 assists per game. As much as she has been a part of the offensive onslaught by the Panthers this year (DU is 2nd in the NAIA in points per game with 89.1), Kristi has made her biggest impact on the defensive end as she was named to the All-WHAC defensive team in both her freshman and sophomore campaigns. Saturday, Boehm achieved another individual career mark in DU history as she again passed Shannon Rose (Callaghan) in steals. Kristi finished with seven steals in the Panthers' 120-87 win over Indiana Tech which gave her 263 for her career breaking Rose's mark of 259. Boehm currently ranks #4 in the NAIA D2 in total steals with 81 this season and is pushing for the individual season mark set by former teammate Jeanette Woodberry (DU ‘06-‘08). Kristi was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American last season while collecting All-WHAC 2nd Team honors. The junior has the 2009-10 Panthers on a 21 game winning streak heading into Wednesday's date with rival Cornerstone University. |
