Junior Lorenzo Ecford scored eight straight points late in the second half to lead #25 Davenport University to a 78-55 upset victory against #18 Siena Heights University and earn Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors.
The forward from Chicago helped DU go 2-0 on the week, including the victory at SHU, by averaging 17 points, seven rebounds and 4.5 steals. From the field, he hit 52% of his shots, including three-for-four 3-pointers. His week started with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and six steals in just 18 minutes as the Panthers defeated Madonna University 78-59. During the SHU game, he scored 22 points, grabbed nine rebounds, had one assist, one block and three steals.
For the season, Ecford is averaging 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Davenport improved to 16-5 overall and remains undefeated in conference play. The Panthers next travel to Aquinas College on Jan. 21
