Cornerstone University used a six-game winning streak to climb to the No. 16 spot in the latest NAIA Division II Men's Basketball rating. Siena Heights University slipped three spots to #18 and Davenport University closes out the Top 25.
Cornerstone, receiving votes in the Dec. 14 rating, rallied to win its last six games for a 14-4 overall record and a 2-0 start in conference play. The Golden Eagles are posting 82 points per game, good enough to rank 13th in the country with 1,476 total points.
Siena Heights, ranked 15th in the last rating of 2009, suffered two defeats during the winter break to sit at 15-3 overall. The Saints have won their last two to stay in the poll at No. 18. Defense is the key to SHU's success as it ranks 8th in the country holding opponents to just 38.8% field goal shooting and 11th in defending the 3-point shot allowing just 29.3% shooting.
Davenport, 14-5 overall and 3-0 in the WHAC, dropped three road games without team leader Nathan Cox to fall to No. 25 after being ranked No. 19 before the break. The Panthers lead the nation with 232 steals and rank second for steals per game average with 12. DU also ranks fourth in offensive rebounds, grabbing 780.
