John Lierman averaged 28 points in leading Aquinas College to a 2-1 week. The senior earned the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week award for the week ending December 27.
A guard from Holt, Mich., Lierman averaged three rebounds, four assists and 2.7 assists while shooting 64.7% from the field to earn MVP honors at the St. Xavier University (Ill.) Christmas Tournament.
In an 86-81 win against St. Ambrose University (Iowa), Lierman scored 26 points, had two rebounds, six assists and three steals and shot a staggering 8-9 from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the three-point arc. He followed with 28 points, four rebounds, two assists anf three steals during a 62-57 win against Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.). During a 76-81 loss to #20 University of St. Francis (Ind.), he scored 31 points, had three rebounds, dished out four assists and stole two.
Lierman is averaging just over 20 points per game and shooting 51.2% from the field. He ranks in the top 50 in the country in six statistical categories.
Aquinas sports a 9-5 overall record and will be active this week in another holiday tournament.
