FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Nov. 14, 2009) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its volleyball honors for the 2009 season. Indiana Institute of Technology captured both the regular season title as well as the conference tournament championship to earn the league's automatic berth to the 30th Annual NAIA Volleyball National Championship.

Tech outside hitter Ashley Hamilton was named the Player of the Year after leading the Warriors to an undefeated conference record of 14-0. The sophomore currently ranks No. 34 in the country for kills per set with 3.67 and No. 40 with 444 total kills.

Joining Hamilton on the first team are Co-Setters of the Year Inta Grinvalds of Madonna University and Katie Vander Meer from Aquinas College and. Grinvalds led the nation averaging 11.61 assists per set for a total of 1,637 assists. Vander Meer posted a 9.6 average to lead Aquinas.

Indiana Tech head coach Kirsta Solberg grabbed WHAC Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive year. Cornerstone University head coach Ryan Campbell was named the Champions of Character Coach for best displaying of the NAIA's five core character values - Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership and Sportsmanship.

Other honors awarded were Honorable Mention All-Conference, All-Freshman Team, All-Academic for juniors and seniors in academic standing and a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and Champions of Character Team.
