Nick Abdoo of Indiana Institute of Technology and Steve Besk of Madonna University were named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
Abdoo, a sophomore from Lowell, Mich., scored three goals in two games to lead Tech to a 1-0-1 week. The forward was responsible for both goals in a 2-2 tie with Cornerstone University and netted one goal during a 2-0 win at Siena Heights University. It's the first three goals of the season for Abdoo. Tech improved to 8-6-1 overall, 6-3-1 in conference games.Madonna went 1-0-1 thanks to the defensive efforts of senior Besk. The keeper was perfect in the net, grabbing five saves in a 0-0 tie with Cornerstone while the Crusaders played a man down form 102 minutes. He recorded five more saves in a 3-0 win against Siena Heights. The two shutouts improved his GAA to 1.53 as he has now recorded 38 total saves. Madonna improved to 3-6-3 on the year, 3-4-2 in WHAC play.
