LIVONIA, Mich. (10/25/09) - Postseason honors in men's golf for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) have been awarded. Brett Quitiquit of Madonna University (Mich.) won the conference's Individual Medalist award and his head coach Steve Mato was named Coach of the Year.
Madonna captured its first men's golf championship with the lowest total stroke total of 2,098 through seven Jamboree events - just one stroke less than runner-up Cornerstone University (Mich.). Davenport University (Mich.) followed in third place with a 2,109 total. With the crown, Madonna received the conference's automatic bid to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Golf National Championships in May.
Other honors released - All-Academic team members must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and are nominated by head coaches. The Champions of Character team members best represent the NAIA's five core character values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership.
