Ashley Aspinal of Aquinas College and Karlee Despres of Davenport University were named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively, for the week ending April 23.
It's the second award for Aspinal, a senior from Freeport, Mich. The right fielder helped Aquinas post a 4-2 record for the week by posting seven hits in 16 at-bats for a .438 batting average. She scored six runs, batted in five runs and hit three for extra bases including a home run against University of Michigan-Dearborn.  Aspinal's yearly batting average sits at .465 and ranks No. 7 in the country with .45 doubles per game. She also ranks No. 12 in RBIs with 1.23 per game. Aquinas improved to 34-10 on the year, 10-4 in conference play.
 
Despres continues to be a highlight for the Panthers in their inaugrual year. The freshman from Belmont, Mich. threw 23 innings and helped Davenport to a 6-2 weekly record. She allowed 14 hits and seven earned runs while striking out 19 and walking nine. Her 2.13 ERA was down just a little from her 2.28 average for the year. Davenport is 28-21 overall and 21-13 in WHAC play.
