SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Junior Caitlin Duval recorded the first hole-in-one in Davenport golf history today in the opening round of the Blackthorn Challenge hosted by Bethel College. Duval aced the 16th hole in route to a 10th place finish with a round of 83 heading into the second day on Saturday. Caitlin Duval, the reigning WHAC Player of the Year, opened the tournament with a round of 83 which included the first hole-in-one in Davenport Golf history. The junior aced the 16th hole that measured 120 yards with an 8-iron on Friday afternoon. Two other Lady Panthers played in the tournament all as individuals today as Nicole Labonte finished with a round of 95 and Stacy Brenner came in with a final score of 106. The three student-athletes will return to action on Saturday as they will complete the 36-hole tournament. |
