Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year Pedja Lazic of Aquinas College was named to the first team of the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball All-America teams. Four other WHAC players were honorably mentioned for the award.
 
Lazic averaged 16.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game for the Saints. The senior from Kentwood, Mich. finished the year nationally ranked in three statistical categories - 10th in defensive rebounds per game (7.3), No. 15 in field goal percentage (.575) and #21 in total rebounds per game. Aquinas finished wiht a trip to the DII national tournament and a season record of 24-10.
 
Four other WHAC players made the Honorable Mention list. Nathan Cox of Davenport University, Cornerstone University's Matt Kingshott, John Lierman of Aquinas and Cedric Sims of Madonna University.
 
Despite missing nearly a third of the season to injury, Cox led Davenport to a 20-11 record and a second-place finish in the conference. The Flushing, Mich. native's 16.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game averages were tops of the team.
 
Kingshott, 6'5" from Zeeland, Mich., averaged 15.7 points on .551 shooting percentage and 7.3 rebounds. His FG percentage was good enough to rank him at No. 27 in the country.
 
Lierman was Aquinas' second-leading scorer with 16.6 ppg. He also was second with 6.1 rebounds per game.
 
Madonna relied heavily on Sims' 15.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game averages to propel the Crusaders to a 12-19 record. The 6'0" guard from Canton, Mich. was third nationally with 2.9 steals per game and ranked at #28 with his 4.4 assists average.
