Madonna University's (Mich.) 2-1 week caused the Crusaders to slip one spot in the NAIA Volleyball National Rating. Indiana Institute of Technology also went 2-1 last week and held on to its ranking.
Madonna and Indiana Tech, co-champions in the WHAC for the sport of volleyball thanks to splitting a couple of matches last week, both remain in the top 20 teams of the NAIA according to the latest NAIA national rating. With both teams undefeated in league play entering the week, Madonna took the first match in four games while Tech returned the favor by winning in four in the last match of the season.
The lone loss by each team tied the two for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference title, but due to tiebreaker procedures gave Indiana Tech the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
With each team beating the other in four games, the national raters held both teams in the same spot as last week with the exception of Madonna dropping one spot to #11. Tech remained steady at #19.
Opening round of the WHAC tournament starts on Nov. 11. Madonna and Indiana Tech receive a bye and will play on Nov. 14 in the semifinals hosted by Indiana Tech.
