Fort Wayne, Ind. – Josh Wolfe has been promoted to the position of head men's and women's cross country coach at Indiana Tech effective July 1, 2013, announced by Director of Athletics Martin Neuhoff. Wolfe has served the last three seasons as an assistant coach for the cross country teams, as well as the national champion track & field squads.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced Cornerstone University administrator Dave Grube as the conference's 2012-13 Athletics Director of the Year. The award, chosen annually by a ballot of conference athletic directors, is the second for Grube. He previously won the award in 2010.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - (FULL RELEASE) Indiana Tech jumped to No. 16 in the final standings of the 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup thanks to a pair of national championships in outdoor track & field. The Warriors also earned points this spring in baseball to lead the league with 485.75 points. Aquinas finished in the 19th spot with 454 points after scoring in men's tennis and both outdoor track and field sports. Oklahoma Baptist claimed its first win with 964 total points. The Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Scoring is based on 12 sports (six men's sports and six women's sports) at the national level throughout the 2012-13 athletic season. Points are earned in fall sports, winter sports, and spring sports.
Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech will bring collegiate hockey to Fort Wayne with the addition of a men's ice hockey team in fall 2014. The Warriors will play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Three Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) members were honored at the annual NAIA-SIDA Workshop for their excellence in publications. Davenport, Marygrove, and Northwestern Ohio were recognized with national awards for sport brochures and Websites. Davenport took first place for an outsourced Website for its athletic site (www.dupanthers.com) while newcomer Marygrove was10th. Davenport also placed in the top 10 for volleyball brochure, women's basketball brochure, and men's soccer brochure. Northwestern Ohio also had a couple of top 10 finished.The awards are selected by a committee of judges comprised of NAIA sports information directors and other media. The judging committees vary for each category.
KANSAS CITY - Madonna pitcher Jeremy Gooding was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American while Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) member institutions placed 22 baseball players on the Daktronics-NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete list. In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
